Best Postpartum Belly Wraps For A Slimmer Figure (2020 Guide)

As an avid exerciser, one thing I was really determined to do was keep my fitness routine up throughout my pregnancy.

Dreaming of a perfect delivery, I had my calendar marked so I could begin my regular workout regimen two weeks post-delivery.

Boy, did my C-section throw a wrench into my plans!

One thing I was really grateful for was my belly wrap.

It helped me meet my fitness goals, even when I couldn’t get back into the gym as soon as I would have liked.

It had a bunch of other awesome benefits too, so if you haven’t purchased one yet, seriously consider these really great wraps.

Why You Might Want A Postpartum Belly Wrap

A postpartum belly wrap is great for any mom to use, whether it’s your first delivery or third.

It’s a huge confidence builder and it helps provide support in several ways to a post baby body. A wrap helps your belly shrink much faster and get back to its original shape and size.

Think about it: your tummy stretched out a lot in order to accommodate your growing baby. A band helps compress your skin, making it tight and taut again.

It is said to take several weeks of wearing it to really see a difference, but I saw and felt a noticeable change just after a week.

It is also great for moms to wear if they have to have a C-section because it provides a lot of support. I really appreciated how it kept me feeling “bound together” after being cut apart.

It helped relieve pressure in my stomach and just made me feel more secure as I lifted the baby, got in and out of bed, and sneezed or went to the bathroom (which was a horrific ordeal at first).

In addition to all of these benefits of a wrap, it also helps take pressure off your back and bottom half since your uterus swells after delivery.

I also noticed it help bring my posture back to life, after spending the past 9 months hunched over because of my growing belly. Wearing it was like a daily reminder to stand up straight.

A postpartum belly wrap is also thin enough to wear under your clothing. So, instead of buying new jeans until my old ones fit again, I’d simply slip on a wrap and be able to get wear what I wanted.

Important Features to Consider

When it comes to buying a great belly wrap, there are a few things to consider.

Durability. Probably the most important factor when it comes to owning a great postpartum belly wrap, you need something that can withstand everyday use. My belly wrap never once lost its structure or form, and was always a struggle for me to fasten. That’s how you know the correct size! A belly band won’t do its job if it fits you perfectly (or loosely). It needs to be nice and tight, and you should be able to see and feel a difference over time as your band gets easier and easier to attach.

Washable. I got a lot of stuff on my belly wrap over time, so I needed something that I could pop in the washer and not worry about it ripping, tearing, or fraying.

Comfortable. In order for a belly wrap to really do its job, you need to wear it 24/7. You’re not going to want to wear one if it feels itchy, scratchy, or overly stiff. Pick a soft fabric that almost feels like a second skin when you’re wearing it.

Light. A belly wrap doesn’t have to be heavy and bulky in order to be durable and do its job. You can get an amazing wrap that is as light as a feather. You’ll never know you’re wearing it and its weight won’t bother you in hot summer months, either.

Velcro attachment. Pass on anything that needs to be snapped, buttoned, or fastened with hooks or anything metal. The most effective bands have Velcro closures, making them easy to adjust to your comfort zone and tightness level.

Best Postpartum Belly Wraps

#1. Mamaway Postpartum Belly Wrap

Out of the couple wraps that I got my hands on, the Mamaway Postpartum Belly Wrap (click here to check the price on Amazon) was by far the softest and stretchiest.

It was also the largest, in the sense that it covered the most area. My entire tummy and hips were completely compressed, and I could control the amount of tightness and tension I desired by the way that I placed the wrap.

This is because the Mamaway is two compression belts in one, making it a pretty effective unit.

Every recovery is different and I needed a lot of support on the lower part of my pelvis, which is where the Mamaway really thrived.

The band is also has a nano bamboo charcoal that absorbs moisture, which kept me dry and fresh (which was important to me since I delivered in the midst of the summer).

In addition to shrinking my waist line, the Mamaway helped reduce stretch marks too!

Although I didn’t like to remove it often, I could easily pop it in the washer when it needed a weekly cleaning (and it never ripped, wrinkled, or frayed!)

#2. UpSpring Baby Shrinkx Postpartum Belly Wrap

My second favorite wrap is the UpSpring Baby Shrinkx Postpartum Belly Wrap, which is priced a bit more affordably than the Mamaway (click here to check the price on Amazon).

Boasting triple compression, the UpSpring wrap fits all around your tummy and hips, giving you the right amount of support that you need.

Composed of breathable (very important), mesh fabric, the band is really comfortable and was always a joy to use.

Some reviews report that it is a bit on the stiff side, but it has gotten great reviews for how firm it makes your belly feel, even days after delivery.

Many moms also loved how it has built-in boning for nursing mom’s posture, and for lower back support (which is great for C-section recovery).

The UpSpring wrap can be washed with ease and is recommended to be worn constantly, only removing it for showers to get maximum results.

I knew a few women who wore this under their clothing out in public, and it was barely noticeable.

This wrap is doctor recommended, and helps moms get the confidence they need to start feeling like themselves again!

Wrapping Up

Don’t accept the fact that you have to wait weeks before working out and feeling great again.

These wraps will make you look better, feel better, and help you get back into tip top shape in no time.

Be sure to check them out prior to your delivery so you have one on hand that can slip right on in the hospital to help you with your recovery.
